If you’re a cat lover, then you know that cats have unique personalities. And when I say that cats have unique personalities, I mean that every single cat has its own unique personality. Growing up as a kid, I didn’t have a lot of pets. I only remember having one dog, and he got run over by a car in our neighborhood. After that, we never got another pet. To be honest, my parents weren’t really animal lovers (although they were kind to animals when they encountered them). We mostly lived in apartments and having a pet when you’re renting is complicated.
So I was pleasantly surprised when I got married and joined my wife’s family, which includes both dogs and cats. Before long, I became an official “crazy cat dad” and we had so many animals dumped on our driveway over the years that we started doing cat and kitten rescue. We’re not going to turn an animal away, period. We’re going to do all that we can to help a vulnerable cat or dog. We also have grown our own family of cats, and we can’t imagine life without them. Yes, they do require some maintenance and they scratch our furniture, but we have rooms that they’re not allowed into.
We used to have a memory foam mattress on our bed, and we didn’t want the cats to scratch it up so we limited their time in the bedroom. Also, my wife is a light sleeper, and for this reason, we don’t sleep with animals at night. They’re perfectly comfortable in their own areas and everyone gets plenty of rest. However, last year, we invested in a Purple mattress, and it wasn’t cheap. To protect that bad boy mattress, we’ve gotten even more limiting about the time the cats stay in the bedroom.
Below, you’ll see a funny cat named Winston who is absolutely fascinated by his footprints in the memory foam mattress in his home. This is hilarious!
