When someone asks us to see if we can find a hidden object in an image, we’re usually instantly intrigued. Human beings love puzzles and riddles and hidden-object puzzles are some of the most popular. When it comes to how our eyes and brains work together, we mostly take for granted our ability to see objects and identify them quickly and easily. However, it’s not that simple. Our brain works in the background all the time, but things happen so rapidly that occasionally, we’re fooling ourselves (literally). The human brain thrives on workouts like puzzles, but how does it all work?
Everything we see with our eyes is sent directly to our brains, and the brain analyzes the information quickly to identify what we’re seeing. In the optical illusion below, there’s an object hiding in plain sight. It’s hard to see, but once you see it, you can’t not see it. It took me longer than it should have and while I’m embarrassed about that, I know it’s not just me! If you can’t find the object, click through to the next page for the solution.
