When you stop to think about everything that our eyes do on a daily basis, it really can be overwhelming. Not only do they look at the world, they also are directed to specific items so we are kept safe.
It is also what is going on behind the scenes that really shows the power of our sense of sight. The light hits our retina and then a signal is sent along the optic nerve from our eye to our brain.
At that point, our brain must decipher what it is seeing and determine whether what we are seeing deserves some additional attention or not. This is something that happens on a constant basis every time our eyes are open.
