What do you see when you look at the world around you? Like many people, you probably try to take in as much as possible in the short amount of time you have to see it.
In fact, we were designed in this way for a very specific reason. When we see something, we need to react to it. Admittedly, not every time will we have to react because it is a matter of life or death but we can’t make that decision off-the-cuff.
After we see something briefly, we may go back to investigate it further if it warrants our attention. Otherwise, we simply look on to the next thing that is in our field of view.
