For all of my life until 2020, as far as I knew, a desk in a child’s room was sort of a luxury rather than a necessity. I never had a desk in my room growing up, and my wife says she had a vanity, but not a desk. For homework, we both did the same thing: sat on our beds to get our schoolwork done or at the dining room table. In recent years, more children started having desks in their rooms for computers, but then along came laptops and the kids were back in their beds with their computers.
However, we’re in 2020 now and for many children, having a private desk of their own has become a necessity because suddenly they’re having to attend classes online. It even became a bit of a crisis last year when people started discovering that many children didn’t have the resources they needed for in-home learning. Several parents and volunteers started building desks for children who needed them and there are even Facebook groups and pages devoted to how to do it and how to get the desks installed quickly so that kids can get back to studying. However, some cute desks have also surfaced.

A company in Southern California called Cilek Kids Room has some great furniture for kids and their stuff can be purchased worldwide. One of their more popular pieces is a cleverly designed shark desk. The desk is a part of the company’s Pirate Collection, which also features products like a desk chair with a skull and bones decoration, a twin ship bed, and a barrel toy chest. As for the shark desk, the desk portion pops out of the shark’s mouth, and the shark has large illuminated teeth and crazy rolling eyes.

As I said, I didn’t have a desk in my room as a kid, but if I had one, I would have loved this one.
