The birth of a baby is always going to be one of the most special times in our life. It is something that we will cherish and remember for many years.
Of course, there are times when the birth of a child may even be more special and that is the case when we have twins. It doesn’t matter if we were expecting the double birth or not, it is something that is going to affect us in a positive way for the rest of our life.
No one knows this better than Jolene McKee. As a 32-year-old mother, she and her husband, Andrew, have had twins. In fact, they have more than their share.
It wasn’t all that long ago that the couple from Brooklyn said hello to the latest set of twins that came into their family. Jolene and Andrew now have six children, but she has only given birth three times.
The oldest twins in the family are five years old, then there is another set of twins that are three years old. And now there are twin boys.
All in all, they have three girls and three boys.
She said: “I never imagined myself with a big family. I think I might only have one or two kids, I feel very lucky that we have three combinations as well, female twins, male-female twins, and now male twins. It worked out perfectly.”
Prior to the time that she became pregnant with the first twins, she suffered a miscarriage. It was a very difficult time in her life, and she was afraid to go to the doctor after having pain from a miscarriage.
The doctors were taking a long time but when they came in, they told her that she was pregnant with twins. It was an amazing time in her life.
Two years later, she was pregnant again and they had to break the news to her that it was twins. By the time the third time came around, she was getting used to the news.
She said: “When we found out it was twins for the third time, we were in shock, and the doctor was just as shocked as us,” Jolene said. “He said that in 25 years he had never seen a woman have three sets of twins. All of my pregnancies went really smoothly, but it was very different the second and third time around being pregnant while also being an active mum. But I just had to push through. After giving birth to Abigail and Andrew, it was challenging having two sets of twins, but twins were all that we knew so it kind of felt like it got easier with each set. We knew how to handle it. After falling pregnant for the third time, I was 100% sure it couldn’t be another set of twins. I thought it would definitely be just one baby.”
It seems as if she has an overactive uterus and 2 eggs are produced at a time. That is the reason why her pregnancies typically end up it twins.
She also says that each of the children has their own personality and even though they’re twins, they have their own little friends. She loves watching them grow.
Although it would be interesting to have six children in the family, Jolene admits that it is a challenge at times. She said that it’s hard to keep up, especially with the laundry because she has to do at least six loads every week.
In the end, she perhaps said it best by saying: “I love our family, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
