Now that the worst of winter is behind most of North America, we can all start enjoying the warmer weather and the benefits that come with it. Now, assuming we’ll be able to leave home this summer, we’ll all be ready to go to the beach, the pool, hiking, or just some other activities that involve getting out in the sunshine. With everyone spending more time at home, there’s less opportunity to show our fashion off, but once we can get outside, everyone will be eager for the chance to wear some hot new looks out on the town. I live in Texas, and it gets super hot down here, so the newest trend is especially appealing to me: lace shorts.
Over the years, we’ve seen more than our share of fashion snafus, and trends tend to come and go. However, jeans have always been in fashion in menswear. For men, shorts have always been available in denim, khaki, cotton, and other fabrics, but how about lace? Well, why not? I don’t think my husband will wear them, but I’ll be trying to get him to. These shorts are just so pretty. Men’s fashion is definitely undergoing a metamorphosis, and my not-so-fashionable hubby needs to be on board, I think. And besides, if he has these, I can actually borrow them occasionally. Not sure if I can get my fashion-conscious son to wear them, but who can say? Maybe he will.
These pastel-colored shorts were released by a company called Hologram City, and they are sheer lacy shorts with matching short-sleeved button-down shirts as an option. The company first designed the shorts for a New York City rapper named Cazwell, for a music video. In the video, Cazwell and four other men wear the colorful designs with tube socks, coordinating shirts, and bright white sneakers. An altogether springy look! Cosmopolitan notes that lace shorts for men aren’t entirely new because Versace showed men in a similar style in 2013 and Gucci showed the style in 2015.
As the Cosmo author pointed out, why shouldn’t men have fun with fashion? Life’s too short to confine yourself to the expectations of other people. My husband will probably never wear pastel-colored lace shorts, but if he wants to, he’ll have my full support. They’re cute!
