Did you know that Christmas music has something in common that you might not think of at first? It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve heard it, it continues to be a favorite and when you hear it playing as December rolls around, it is just going to make you enjoy it even more. There’s something interesting about the music that we hear and some of it has been around for hundreds of years! That doesn’t mean that it is getting older, however, it means that it is getting better and I’m sure that’s how you are going to feel about the performance we have below.
In 2020, things are different because we are not getting together in large crowds to listen to a live performance. Perhaps it is something that we truly miss but we look forward to the time when we are able to do so again. Until then, we can enjoy some of the best performances from the past, such as this gem from the CMA Country Christmas in 2016. Jennifer Nettles and Idina Menzel are some of the biggest female country singers of all time. They certainly do have a beautiful voice and when they sing individually, it’s enough to give you chills.
As you are about to see, it isn’t only them singing individually that can move you, them singing together at the CMA Country Christmas is absolutely amazing. They join their voices to sing ‘Little Drummer Boy’, something that they do together quite well. In fact, they have a 2016 album in which they appear together, To Celebrate Christmas.
Most people don’t realize it but the Little drummer boy has been around since 1941. It was written then but wasn’t recorded until the Trapp Family Singers sang it in 1951 and then it was further made famous in 1958. It’s an incredible song but when you hear these two talented singers singing it together, it goes beyond what we know. Listen to it for yourself below:
