There is a time in life when we would laugh and a time when we would cry. Those wise words are often used to let us know that there are not always appropriate times to act in any way and at times, we may need to keep ourselves in line with the situation. One of those areas that calls for respect is anytime we are visiting Arlington National Cemetary. There is a part within that National Park where a tomb is guarded by a member of the military 24 hours a day, regardless of the weather. The tomb contains an unknown soldier and it is used to show respect for those soldiers.
If you’ve never had the opportunity to visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, it is worth putting on your bucket list. As you are standing and watching the soldier walk up and down in front of the tomb, it makes you think deeply. As I’m sure you are aware, there are some people who don’t always act as they should and this is also true when it comes to a situation as serious as this. On the day that the video below was shot, a group of visitors was there and they were not being respectful.
Of course, when you are on vacation and visit Arlington, it’s difficult to always be serious but there are times that call for respect and this was one of them. A group that was visiting, however, started laughing about something and the soldier wasn’t having any of it. He stepped out of line and put that group back in line.
It’s always interesting to see how these soldiers are trained. There is no doubt that he took his job seriously and we get to see what happens when someone steps out of line.
