Peter Craven says that his daughter Lucy didn’t experience any issues while on her departure flight. The 15-year-old boarded an Aer Lingus flight traveling from Belfast City Airport, arriving at Machester Airport on Friday, January 28, to pay a visit to her older brother.
BelfastLive reports that the teen was not asked to provide any additional paperwork prior to her Aer Lingus departure flight.
But when she tried to board her return flight on Sunday at the Machester Airport, airline officials refused the teen permission to board. The airline staff insisted that she provide them with a signed indemnity form.
Aer Lingus later confirmed that they require all unaccompanied minors traveling on their flights to fill out an indemnity form and said they were investigating the incident.
As he was on the phone with Aer Lingus’ customer support staff, Peter was informed that the reason his daughter didn’t need the form while she was traveling from Belfast was that she had been in the company of an adult. However, that was incorrect, as she had traveled alone.
According to Petter, the Aer Lingus staff in Machester escorted his daughter back to the airport entrance, asked if she had someone coming to pick her up, then just left her there.
Rhys, Lucy’s brother, returned and picked up his sister and helped her get onto another flight in the morning. However, this hassle would cost him to miss some very important university assignments.
