It doesn’t matter who we are, we all have some type of talent we can share with the world. For some people, it may be something such as singing or dancing. Perhaps that is why television talent shows are so popular these days because we get to see what people are capable of doing that is often hidden for many years. On the other hand, we may have a special talent that we never really thought would go over but when we share it with someone else, we suddenly realize just how amazing they think we are.
Perhaps that is how many people think of Jeffrey Michael Samudosky. You may never have heard of him before, but the wood sculpture expert from Gig Harbor, Washington, has really carved out a name for himself. At some time or another, we’ve all marveled at the beauty of Redwood trees. If not for the sheer size when we see them in person, it’s just by knowing that something so large exists in nature. Those trees don’t live forever so when a redwood tree fell, Samudosky obtained part of it and used a chainsaw to turn it into a giant Pacific octopus.
Something like this obviously takes a lot of time, but the effort is well worth it when you see the results. As you look at the transformation in the pictures below, you will see that the wood itself was beautiful to start with but when it was finished, it was beyond what any of us could have imagined from it.
