You never quite know what you’re going to find in your backyard. At times, it may be such a surprise that it actually gains the interest of people in the community or perhaps around the world.
That is what happened to nine-year-old Elysia Laub. She was in her backyard and Northwest Indiana when she heard something. At first, she thought that maybe it was one of the piglets that the family kept in the yard, and she admits that she was ‘freaked out.’
The first thing she did was to scream for her mother because she had actually found a baby girl. The little baby was only about a day older perhaps less and still had the placenta and umbilical cord attached.
When the police came, they were very grateful that the young girl found the infant child. They were even calling her the guardian angel of the infant.
Elysia was also humble enough to say that someone it helped her and that it was God who would put her in that place.
The infant was doing well but had suffered from sun exposure during the time that it was out in the field. The infant may have been in the location for up to a day.
Thankfully, the little girl was able to save the day and police were able to identify the mother, who was a runaway teenager. They are seeking child abandonment charges for the mother.
