Have you ever felt vulnerable or in danger? If you’re a woman, you probably have. Not that men never feel vulnerable or find themselves in danger. I know they do. However, for women, it’s nearly a daily thing. I saw a video once of a woman at a conference giving a speech to a large group of men and women. She asked the group, “If you’re a man and you’ve felt like you were in danger sometime today, raise your hand.” A few men raised their hands. Then, the speaker asked the group, “If you’re a woman and you’ve felt like you were in danger sometimes today, raise your hand.” Nearly every woman in the room raised their hands. This was eye-opening for all of the men in the room, and also for my husband when I showed him the video. We don’t know if the story below is true, but it’s a good example of why not to mess with a woman.
Guy on train: I’d sleep with you if you didn’t have so many tattoos.
Me: *turns up music*
Guy: I said I’d sleep with you if you didn’t have so many tattoos!
Me: *takes off headphones* Leave. Me. Alone.
Guy: Why the hell do you have so many tattoos?
Me: …….
Guy: Are you deaf as well as a piece of trash?
Lady by door: Hey. Leave her alone.
Guy: Are you her trash girlfriend? Stupid idiots, all tattooed like men. Disgusting waste of talent.
Lady: *moves forward, carefully moves jacket so only I can see the badge on her belt* Are you okay?
Me: Fine. Just wish he’d go away.
Lady cop: I can make that happen.
Guy: Oh, yeah, b***h? Who the hell are you? I’ll kill you!
Lady cop: And that’s what I was waiting for. *grabs guy, holds him against the door* Harassing women on the train was enough, but you just threatened a cop. You’re battin’ a thousand tonight.
Entire train: *applauds*
