A man living in Thailand proved just how seriously he took the wedding vows in which he promised to care for his wife “in sickness and in health,” when she began to suffer from muscle atrophy after receiving a bite from a poisonous snake. 
Because he had no one else to look after his wife, the man could not travel very far or work much.
He asked for help from their neighbors, who did what they could to help out. But, he was only able to get 700 baht (or $20 USD) in aid from them every month.
Since money was so tight, the husband made the sacrifice of feeding his wife the lion’s share of the food he could afford. As a result, he began to starve himself, eating only what was leftover from her meals.
People worldwide soon learned of the couple’s tragic situation after Worranan Sarasalin posted their story on Facebook. Soon, many kind people gathered up donations and visited the couple to provide them with food and other basic needs.
Other locals also launched a fundraising campaign to ensure the couple would continue getting the support they needed in the future.
Netizens also recommended that the man take his wife to a hospital to provide proper medical treatment. It turns out he was too poor to afford her treatment, but now others are pitching in to help arrange it.
