Even though he’s 82 years old, Hollywood legend Morgan Freeman shows no sign of slowing down any time soon. Freeman is undoubtedly one of the oldest big-name actors who are still working in the entertainment industry today. Freeman’s commanding presence and iconic voice are recognizable to people all over the world. His success has been demonstrated by the number of accolades and honors he’s received. He has been nominated for five Academy Awards and won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2005 movie “Million Dollar Baby.” In addition to his Oscar, Freeman has won a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Golden Globe Award.
Freeman’s career didn’t begin in film, interestingly enough. He started out in the 1960s as a dancer at the World’s Fair in 1964. Also, he was a member of the “Opera Ring,” a San Francisco-based musical theater group. For his first role on film, Freeman is credited as an extra in a movie from 1965 called “The Pawnbroker.” Freeman’s first credited appearance was for “Who Says I Can’t Ride a Rainbow!” in 1971. This legendary actor first gained popularity when he began acting in the soap opera “Another World.” He also starred in the PBS children’s program titled “The Electric Company.” In the mid-1980s, Freeman began to transition to a different type of role.
It was “Driving Miss Daisy” that propelled Freeman to super-stardom, and was his first role in playing a wise, fatherly role. This continued with more films, including the popular 1994 movie “The Shawshank Redemption.” In spite of his huge success, Freeman is still able to poke a little good-natured fun at himself, and that’s exactly what he did on an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” It started when Jimmy Fallon said that he’s always wondered how Freeman’s iconic voice would sound on helium. Well, Freeman was happy to demonstrate. The two men joked back and forth a bit, then the two got down to business.
They decided to do the same interview, but this time, after sucking helium. Watch below as these two guys have some hellacious fun and crack up the audience.
