There was a movie starring Harrison Ford in which Ford’s character had to fly and land an airplane. As it turns out, Ford’s character is the President of the United States, and his official aircraft Air Force One has been hijacked. Because he’s apparently a superhero president, he is able, with the help of some other passengers, to subdue or be rid of the hijackers and lock himself into the cockpit. Then, he had the task of doing something he had never done before: flying a plane and safely landing it. After all, landing an airplane is the hardest part of flying it, so I’ve heard. Because it’s a movie, Ford’s character was able to land the plane with the help of an Air Force Major’s guidance from below. It was an action-packed movie and just thinking about it makes me want to watch it again. If you love scenarios like this, you’ll love the hilarious joke below. But hey, at least he was able to land the plane, even if he was a little off.
Patrick & Feargus were on board a small chartered airplane when the pilot suddenly had a heart attack and they needed to make an emergency landing.
“Don’t Panic”, Patrick called out, heroically. “I’ll land this baby!”
So, Patrick unfastened his seat belt, got up, and moved to the co-pilot chair.
He strapped himself in, then seizing the controls he headed for the runway at Dublin Airport and began wrestling the diving plane to the ground.
Just as the wheels touched the ground, Feargus screamed out, “Look out Patrick, RED LIGHTS!! RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!”
Immediately Patrick threw the engines into reverse and as they screamed and the plane lurched from side to side as it tried to slow down, he jammed on the brakes, bringing the plane to a violent stop, just inches from the lights at the end of the runway.
“Phew!!” he puffed, wiping his brow. “That sure was a short runway!”
“It sure was”, Feargus agreed, looking side to side, “but look how WIDE it is”.
