If you’ve ever had an unreasonable boss, you know how difficult it can be to get up and go to work every day. The fact is, people are hugely impacted by how they’re treated by their superiors at work, and if you have a demoralizing boss, you’re not going to be motivated to do your best work. That’s just the way it is. On the other hand, if you have a boss who encourages you and finds ways to support you, and even train you if you’re doing something incorrectly, you’re likely to give it your all. I’ve had both kinds of bosses and while I’ve always tried to do my best work, the fact is, I was more motivated to do my best when I had supportive bosses. It just makes everything better for everyone. In the joke below, you’ll see the worst kind of boss, and his ignorance cost him big-time.
If you’ve ever worked for a boss who reacts before getting the facts and thinking things through, you will enjoy this.
A company, feeling it was time for a shakeup, hired a new CEO. The new boss was determined to rid the company of all slackers.
On a tour of the facilities, the CEO noticed a guy leaning against a wall and idly picking his teeth. The room was full of workers and he wanted to let them know that he meant business. He asked the guy,
“How much money do you make a week?”
A little surprised, the young man looked at him and said, “I make $400 a week. Why?”
The CEO said,”Wait right here.”
He walked back to his office, came back in two minutes, and handed the guy $1,600 in cash and said, “Here’s four weeks’ pay. Now GET OUT and don’t come back.”
Feeling pretty good about himself the CEO looked around the room and asked,
“Does anyone want to tell me what that goof-ball did here?”
From across the room a voice said,
“Sure – he was the Pizza delivery guy from Domino’s and was just waiting to collect the money!”
