It doesn’t matter how much we work with our child, there are going to be times when they give us a difficult time. It may happen at home when they try to take a stand but there may also be times when it happens in a public location. When those things occur, it can be both embarrassing and frustrating. It is important to do what you can do to overcome the situation as quickly as possible. That is what the man in this joke did, and his solution may be the best solution that we have ever heard.
As the badly behaved youngster, 3 years young, is walking with his grandfather through the supermarket, a woman is following them. It’s blatant to her that he has his work cut out with the child, screaming for treats and goodies, biscuits, sweets, fruit, cereal, sugary fizzy drink, you name it!
Whilst this is going on grandad is making his way through the supermarket and in a steady voice saying:
“Easy, William, we won’t be long, Easy, boy.”
After much more aggro from the boy, grandfather says:
“It’s okay William, just a couple more minutes and we’ll be out of here. Hang in there, boy.”
At last at the checkout, the little boy in his final struggles for attention, throws things out of the shopping cart, again grandad says, calmly:
“William, William, relax buddy, don’t get upset. We’ll be home in five short minutes; stay cool, William.”
Greatly impressed by this the woman catches the grandfather at the car while loading the shopping and says:
“It’s none of my business, but you were amazing in there. I don’t know how you did it. That whole time, you kept your composure and no matter how loud and disruptive he got, you just calmly kept saying things would be okay. William is very lucky to have you as his grandpa.”
“Thanks,” said the grandfather, “but I’m William. The little brat’s name is Kevin.”
