When I was growing up, I had a piano in my bedroom. I’d frequently forget to pull the covering down to cover the keys and be awakened in the middle of the night when a cat walked across the keyboard. It was terrifying every single time. Sometimes I had friends over and they always freaked out, convinced my house was haunted. The cats were trying to play the piano. They were just walking on stuff as cats do. But have you ever seen a dog play the piano? I was astonished by the dog in the video we share in this article. This remarkable dog actually turns the electric piano on, then sits down and starts playing. All of this on command! What???
First of all, I’ll say that I’ve seen some smart dogs in my life. I’ve even trained a couple myself. I had an Australian Shepherd a long time ago named Fred. Australian Shepherds are famously smart dogs and are easily trained. At that time, I had a lot of free time and put it to good use training Fred. He rode my husband’s motorcycle with him, sitting right up in front. He loved it. He also skied on a boogie board behind a boat with my husband. But one skill, in particular, made him stand out: he could go to the refrigerator and get a beer on command. We would tell him, “go get a beer,” and Fred would go to the fridge and pull the door open using the dish towel that we had tied to the door. Then he’d bring the beer to us and go back and shut the door.

Fred also put his toys back into his toy basket on command and did all the usual stuff like heel, sit, etc…But back to the video we have here. I’ve never seen anything like this dog. Sadie is a beautiful German Shepherd mix who lives with her family in Edmonton in Alberta, Canada. She has an incredibly unique talent. Not only can she play the piano, but she can actually turn it on herself. When she makes a mistake, she covers her eyes in dismay and then continues to play. But that’s not all. When Sadie is finished playing her song, she stands up and takes a bow. She’s six years old and a mix of German Shepherd and border collie.
Sadie is a rescue dog and her family absolutely adores her. She’s been with them since 2009. In the video, her mommy tells her to go turn the piano on, then to play her a song. Sadie’s bow when she’s done is proof that she knows she’s a star. Watch below.
