Have you ever put your heart and soul (plus a lot of blood, sweat, and tears) into something, only to realize within minutes of completion that it was all in vain? I’m sure that’s happened to most of us. And for those of us who have intelligent and determined animals, it can actually happen a lot. For example, my husband and I have cats. We have a couple of issues that require us to keep some of our cats in one half of the house and some of our cats in the other half of the house. The first issue is that we work in a home office and need to concentrate and focus while we work. Some of our adorable feline babies love to be all over us (all the time), and it’s distracting.
Another issue we have is that some of our cats bully our older or weaker cats. Because of these two issues, we had to figure out a way to keep the cats separated. There’s a door between the two halves of the house, but I like the door to be open so that we can have some good airflow and as I say, “have the chi flowing through the house.” So my husband bought a baby gate, thinking that would work. Nope. Oh, it worked for a while, but the cats quickly figured out how to get over it, under it, through it, and however else they needed to. So my husband had to rig it up with all sorts of tape, wooden sticks, etc….to keep the cats out. The result is a monstrosity-looking thing, but hey, it does the trick.
Joe Ballew is an American man who is like most dog owners: he loves his dog, Stella, and wants to keep her safe by keeping her in this yard. So what does he do? He does what most of us would do. He goes and builds a beautiful, brand new fence. Unfortunately, he didn’t take into account how tenacious Stella actually is. In the video Joe uploaded to YouTube, he proudly shows off his beautiful new fence, then shows himself letting Stella out into the yard to watch her run and play in her new, safe play area. He explains, the pride in his voice, just how happy he is with the job he did. “I just completed fixing this fence. I’m pretty proud of it, I have to say. I’m trying to keep Stella in the yard.”
Then, he lets Stella out. What do you think happens? You guessed it. Stella promptly runs to the corner of the yard and jumped right over the fence. Honestly, animals are sometimes smarter than we are. I have to say, I admire Stella. She is one beautiful, smart beast of a girl.
