Pandas are officially the cutest creatures in nature. If you keep your computer tuned to the Panda Cam at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo, we won’t judge you. We keep ours on, too. With the Panda Cam, people all over the world can watch Tian Tian and Mei Xiang frolicking all day long, and we don’t even have to leave our living rooms to watch them. They’re so stinkin’ adorable. But these two darlings aren’t the only pandas that are winning the internet. A mama panda and a baby panda at the Taipei Zoo have gone viral after a video surfaced showing Mama getting a naughty baby back to bed. The Taipei Zoo is one of the largest zoos in Asia and they’re very proud of their pandas, and rightly so.
In the video below, you can see the baby panda having a big old time as he just runs around the facility playing. Apparently, he wasn’t delighted at naptime, but honestly, what little one is? Human or panda, naptime is no fun when you’re a bundle of youthful energy. This little whippersnapper is running around getting into mischief when Mama notices him gone and goes to find him. At first, she sort of pokes him as if to say, “Come on back to bed.” She walks away, assuming he will follow her. However, he cheerfully ignores her and continues to play. He has no intention whatsoever of going back to bed.
Since he’s being uncooperative, Mama does what any firm mother would do. She grabs him by the scruff and drags his naughty self back to bed. The little guy who was such a scamp a few minutes ago suddenly goes completely limp and uncooperative, forcing his mom to pick him up. Who among us hasn’t experienced this with a naughty kiddo? When she gets him back to their bed-chamber, she snuggles him for a bit, and we assume that he eventually goes back down for his nap.
It seems that getting babies to bed is a universal problem for mommies in every species. Pandas, they’re just like us. Enjoy this adorable video.
