The news is always changing and sometimes things happen that are unexpected. This is especially true of live on location reporting. A reporter has to deal with weather, people trying to get into shots, and sometimes animals. Many reporters have come across snakes or birds attacking them during an on location report. However, sometimes the interruption is cute and furry as one reporter soon found out. The citizens of Washtenaw County, Michigan tuned in one night to ABC local WXYZ Channel 7 and got a pleasant surprise. It was something no one expected and it was a pleasant surprise. A reporter was doing his job when he heard something. He investigated the sound and found an unexpected visitor to his live broadcast. A little furry bundle was hiding under the news truck
Nimo Shaffe was in the middle of his report when he heard tiny little persistent meows. He stopped his broadcast and went looking for the source of the tiny meows. Nimo found a little stray orange tabby kitten and stopped his broadcast to scoop the little one up. The tiny tabby literally stole the show and became an instant star. Schaffe found the kitten to be irresistible and said she will be the new mascot. She was tiny but very loud. Hey she knew how to get attention. The reporter and photographer notified the sheriff who came out. The sheriff joked maybe the kitten should be ticketed for loitering. The kitten was transported to the local Humane Society.
The Humane Society checked her over and, judging by her weight, estimated her to be about 6 weeks old. They began to treat her for fleas, worms, and started on her vaccines. The shelter named her Lucky 7 since she was found by a reporter for channel 7. They said at that time she was still to little to be adopted out but that didn’t stop people from calling in offering to give her a home. She was placed in a foster home.
Lucky 7 continued to grow and get stronger. She played like a normal kitten. Her foster mom said she had a great appetite and was gaining weight. Once she was big enough she was spayed and ready for that forever family. The shelter said she probably saved her own life by being so vocal. The reporter and photographer heard her and went looking. It serves as an important reminder to spay and neuter your pets. Watch the video below to see how Lucky 7 stole the show!
