When we look at something, a lot of things take place behind the scenes. The light that reflects off of what we are seeing enters the retina and then passes along the optic nerve to the brain.
At that point, the brain takes over by deciphering what it is that we saw and then makes a decision as to what to do about it. This could be anything, from ignoring it and moving on to the next item or perhaps even running away from it.
Sometimes, the eye passes so much information to the brain that the brain is not able to keep up with it. When that occurs, we sometimes refer to what we are seeing as an optical illusion.
Its strange when you stop to think about it. The human brain is thought to be infinite by most people but it actually has limitations. As it struggles to figure out what exactly you are seeing, you suddenly see something quite different.
Perhaps that is how you will feel when you look at the following pictures. These are going to test your ability to perceive things that you see.
