For seven years Eliza Murphy and her husband Adam have fought the infertility war. They began their family in 2007, when they welcomed their first child, Owynn, into the world. They always wanted at least two kids. Eliza grew up in a huge and tight-knit family. She had 14 siblings and knew just how important having a sibling would be for Owynn. However, after five miscarriages and one unsuccessful in vitro, they decided they would surrender this endeavor to God. The couple thought they would try becoming foster parents. Meanwhile, Owynn was asking Santa every year to give him a little sibling for Christmas.
The child had many questions, and Eliza and Owynn would have lots of deep conversations concerning how sometimes God may not answer our prayers in the way we want. After Eliza and her husband took an introductory foster care class, they knew that the program would not be a good fit for their family. They learned that the goal of fostering children was so they could return to their own families, and the couple knew that their hearts were just too sensitive to endure saying goodbye. Little Owynn was heartbroken; all he ever wanted was a sibling.

Then in June, by God’s grace, they were introduced to an incredible young woman named Kendra, who wished to put her baby up for adoption. The couple knew it would be a one in a million chance the pregnant mom would pick them, but soon they learned their prayers had been answered! They decided not to tell 10-year-old Owynn about the process since there was a chance the birth mom could change her mind. They already knew just how strongly Owynn wanted to have a sibling, and they couldn’t bear the thought of his little heart being crushed.

Then on December 6, a beautiful, healthy baby girl named Kaylee was born. Eliza and her husband were there to witness Kendra’s birth, along with the birth mom’s sister.

When Adam met and held Naylee for the first time, the proud father’s eyes lit up. This was something Eliza had seen only one other time in her life, and that was when Owynn was born.

They stayed with Naylee and did not leave her side until their birth; mom gave her blessing for the couple to take their new daughter home.
On December 8, they were able to bring Naylee home to her new big brother. Eliza was very excited when Kendra asked if she could be present when they surprised Owynn.
This was a very important moment for their family, and they were more than happy to have her there to share it.
Needless to say, when little Owynn walked through the door, the little boy had no idea he would be meeting someone who would change his life forever.
