I’m not a dancer and neither is my husband. In fact, we were so paranoid that people would ask us to dance at our wedding that we didn’t even allow for a dance floor. With that said, we do dance around the house sometimes (very badly) and it’s fun. We also really enjoy watching other people dance. It’s a true art form and people who do it well make it look so effortless. Whether it’s ballroom style dance, swing dancing, or whatever other kinds of dancing, we love watching great dancers, especially if they’re having a good time doing it. One video we saw recently is the one we’re sharing below. It shows a bunch of cowboys dancing to a hip-hop song.
I know that sounds crazy and totally unreal, but they’re doing it and they’re doing an excellent job of it. They’re basically doing a country line dance, and adding in “Wobble” by hip-hop star V.I.P. makes their dancing even more spectacular and gives it a whole different feel. Line dancing sometimes combines other forms of country and western dancing, like the western promenade dances, the two-step, as well as western-style variants of the swing, polka, and waltz. If you step into a country and western bar or nightclub, you’ll see lots of line dancing, particularly to upbeat high-tempo songs, which is what the song “Wobble” is.
Rapper V.I.P. released “Wobble” on “Beast,” his debut album. The song didn’t do that great at first, but it became more popular when it inspired a dance. Finally, in 2011, it hit the U.S. R&B Hip-Hop Songs chart, landing at number 89 three years after the song was originally released. Since then, it has made it to number 77, where it peaked. “Wobble” even made it to the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2012. Likely, the popularity of the dance got this excellent song some well-deserved attention.
The cowboys and cowgirls in the video below do the song and the dance justice. Be sure to keep your eye on the guy in the red, white, and blue shirt. He has some serious moves. Enjoy this fun video.
