Jamie Foxx is one of the most talented entertainers alive today. Besides being a well-known, award-winning actor, Jamie is also a comedian, a singer and songwriter, and a pretty darn good impersonator. Here’s a fun fact: I know a guy who went to high school with Jamie (known then as Eric Marlon Bishop) in Terrell, Texas. Apparently, Jamie was a star football player, and my friend can attest to that. He says that getting hit by Jamie Foxx was like being run over by a truck. Anyhow, when Jamie was growing up in Terrell, Texas, a town very near to where I live, it was still a segregated community. Jamie says he never forgot his experiences in that town, and he credits his grandmother, who raised him, with being the most significant influence in his success.
During his long career, Jamie Foxx has won scores of awards. When he played Ray Charles in the hit movie “Ray” in 2004, he won the Academy Award for Best Actor, the BAFTA, a Golden Globe Award, the Critics’ Choice Award, and a Screen Actor’s Guild Award. The same year, he was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the movie “Collateral.” In addition to all of these awards, Jamie Foxx has also won a BET Award, three Black Reel Awards, an American Music Award, and a Boston Society of Film Critics Award. As if all of his acting awards aren’t enough, Jamie has also won a Grammy Award and has produced four albums.
Clearly, Jamie Foxx is one talented dude. When it comes to music, a lot of people are surprised to learn that music was his first love when it comes to entertainment, not acting. When he was only three years old, he began studying piano and he later attended the U.S. International University in San Diego to study classical piano, and then eventually attended Julliard. With all of this experience under his belt, it comes as no surprise to anyone that he would perform so well on Jimmy Fallon’s “Wheel of Musical Impressions” that Jimmy does on his popular late-night talk show “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
In this game, Jimmy and his guests spin a wheel, and whichever song they land on, they have to sing that song in the voice of whichever musical artist the wheel randomly generates. Watch the video below and you can watch the super-talented Jamie Foxx channel Jennifer Hudson. You can see Jamie do other impressions, too, and they’re hilarious, but fast-forward the video to 6:35 to see his Jennifer Hudson impersonation, singing “On Top Of Spaghetti.”
