The United States Postal Service is a beloved institution. People who work for the postal service work famously hard and under surprisingly stressful conditions. In fact, the term “going postal” began because for a while, overworked post office workers went through a spree of some of them killing their co-workers. Thank goodness, this seems to have stopped. Apparently, some of the workers reached a breaking point and just lost it. Unfortunately, like many government employees, postal workers have the undeserved reputation of sitting around a lot doing nothing. If you’ve been to a post office recently, you’ll know that this isn’t true. The line of customers never goes away until the end of the day when they lock the doors. The fact is, people who work at the post office do a lot of different jobs and they’re on the front lines right now in these challenging times. Furthermore, many of them have to work long distances to deliver mail to customers. It’s a lot of work. The joke below pokes fun of the stereotype, but just remember to thank your mail delivery person.
A guy goes to the Post Office to apply for a job. The interviewer asks him, “Are you allergic to anything?”
He replies, “Yes, caffeine. I can’t drink coffee.”
“Have you ever been in the military service?”
“Yes,” he says, “I was in Iraq for two years.”
The interviewer says, “That will give you 5 extra points toward employment.”
Then he asks, “Are you disabled in any way?”
The guy says, “Yes. A bomb exploded near me and I lost both my testicles.”
The interviewer grimaces and then says, “Okay. You are a Disabled Veteran; you’ve got enough points for me to hire you right now. Our normal hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 PM. You can start tomorrow at 10:00 am, plan on starting at 10:00 am every day.”
The guy is puzzled and asks, “If the work hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 PM, why don’t you want me here until 10:00 am?”
“This is a government job,” the interviewer says.”For the first two hours, we just stand around drinking coffee and scratching our balls. No point in you coming in for that.”
Please be sure to share this joke with your friends and family.
