Do you remember the TV show “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader”? The premise of the show was that the host, the late Regis Philbin, wo0uld ask contestants questions that the average fifth grader would be required to answer if they wanted to pass the fifth grade and proceed to sixth grade. The fact is, what fifth graders know is a lot, at least when it comes to being able to pass these tests. For most of us adults, it’s been a few years since we’ve been in school, so we’re pretty rusty in several areas of academics. Of course, now with parents homeschooling all over the world, we’re learning just how much we’ve forgotten.
When we were in school as kids, we had vocabulary assignments every week and learned a lot of new words, particularly what the male and females of various species are. The question is, do we retain all of those great words? Well, now you get to find out when you take this quiz. I have a confession to make: I didn’t know all of these. I like to tell my grown kids that I’ve forgotten more than they know. Not necessarily true, but it sounds good. Good luck!
