I’m a woman and I can attest that getting a makeover, or even just a new hairstyle, is both rewarding and exciting. Honestly, I can be rocking along happily enjoying my life and feeling satisfied with my look, but take me in to get my hair done and I come out feeling like a whole new woman. I don’t know if men feel the same way. My husband says that to him, it’s just getting a haircut. But most women feel great after getting a totally new look and style. Perhaps most especially after a relationship ends, it feels good to just let the old go and start with something totally new and fresh. No one understands this better than Christopher Hopkins, aka the “Makeover Guy.” Christopher makes popular YouTube videos of the gorgeous makeovers he does.
Because of how inspiring these videos are, Christopher has grown a huge social media following. In the video below, Vickie from Dallas, Texas starts to cry as she explains why she’s there to see the Makeover Guy. She says she wants to learn how to “make the best me.” She wants to play up her strengths and play down her weakness, and just simply make herself feel better and bring out the best part of herself. She explains that she was at work when she received a text from her sister-in-law, who was traveling in Switzerland. The sister-in-law decided to go get a makeover and informed Vickie that she was coming, too. Vickie says that she’s been wanting to get a makeover for a long time, but she recently got a divorce and she’s starting a totally new life.
She says, “I want to present me.” As she tells her story, she begins to cry even harder. In the background, the Makeover Guy says that “it’s going to be OK.” Vickie expresses doubt, but she seems to be trying to be as upbeat as possible. Hopkins tells her that they’re going to have a good time and Vickie agrees that it will be wonderful. He adds that they’re going to get mimosas or bloody marys or something and Vickie suddenly gets even more enthused (I would, too!). And here’s what happens: she looks fabulous.
When she’s through with her makeover, Vickie is obviously delighted with her new look. She says it’s a “new chapter, a new beginning….it’s my turn.” Good for her! Vickie, and all women, deserve this and everything that comes with it.
